The new Primal WILD combines all of the good stuff that goes into our Primal freshwater fly rods and squishes it down into a mini-me 7'10" six weight version with a small grip - perfect for the kids, ladies or those with small hands. 

Why a 6 weight? Because a rod and line that is too light fails to let the caster get a 'feel' for the action. It is important to feel the rod loading and lighter weight rod/line combinations will not do that. The rod is a little shorter than conventional though so it is not too heavy in the swing weight. This outfit is perfect for junior anglers or those with small hands.
