The Abel SDX is a lightweight, large-arbor fly reel built for the toughest saltwater and freshwater fishing. Precision-machined from aircraft-grade aluminium, it combines exceptional strength with a sealed carbon and stainless-steel drag system for smooth, reliable performance in the harshest conditions.

Featuring the largest arbor and fastest retrieve in the Abel range (15.5–17.5 inches per turn), the SDX delivers rapid line pickup, generous backing capacity, and outstanding fish-fighting control. A larger ergonomic handle provides improved grip when battling powerful fish, while the caged frame protects the drag from salt, sand, and debris.

Available in 9/11 and 12/14 sizes with ported or solid frames, the SDX is ideal for targeting permit, tarpon, giant trevally, tuna, marlin, sailfish, steelhead, salmon, and other large gamefish.

Customised reels are also available with your choice of Gloss Black, Deep Blue, Deep Green, or Platinum frame and spool finishes. There is a substantial delay for these, but they can be ordered.
